Rooi Lamoenchi is a 55-hectare historic kunuku (plantage) owned by the Herrera family since 1890. Today, the Stichting Rooi Lamoenchi preserves this unique blend of cultural legacy, inheemse biodiversity, and Christian spiritual space — open for reflection, learning, and connection.
Experience the soul of Bonaire on a private, personalized guided tour.
By appointment only, one of our passionate volunteers will be your exclusive guide, sharing the rich history of this historic plantation — from its origins in 1890 under the Herrera family to its living legacy of culture, nature, and faith today.

Host your event at Rooi Lamoenchi — where history meets harmony.
We are entrusted with the care of Rooi Lamoenchi — a landscape shaped by history and sustained by faith.
Through faithful stewardship, restoration, and community involvement, we preserve this place as a living testimony of heritage, nature, and reflection.
Rooi Lamoenchi holds the footsteps and stories of those who lived here long ago. The plantation house, outbuildings, and embedded remnants are living witnesses to Bonaire’s cultural identity — not relics, but treasures we restore and protect with care.
Across 55 hectares, native plants, wildlife, and open skies breathe freely. This fragile landscape is precious. Through replanting, sustainable care, and thoughtful management, we protect and strengthen it — letting nature thrive in harmony.
Beyond beauty and history lies spiritual depth. In the prayer house “Heavens Foretaste” and along quiet paths, we create space for prayer, reflection, and renewal. Through Prayer Walks and gatherings, this place becomes a sanctuary for the soul.
“Founded in 2001 by Ellen Herrera Cochrane, Stichting Rooi Lamoenchi Kunuku Park is dedicated to preserving this historic family plantation — its buildings, nature, and profound cultural significance — as a living heritage for Bonaire.”
